Launch of Arogya : A Community Based Intervention on Prevention & Control of NCDs

Voluntary Health Association of India (VHAI) and Lal Pathlabs Foundation has launched Arogya -A community-based intervention on prevention and control of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) in District Kamrup Metropolitan, Assam on 12th February ,2019 at Guwahati.

The event was graced by the presence of Shri Anurag Goel, Secretary & Commissioner, Health & Welfare, Government of Assam; Dr. R. M. Dubey, Prof & Head, Centre for SDG Cell, Government of Assam; Dr. Neelum Tripathi, National Director, Lab Technology & Compliance, Dr. Lal Pathlabs Limited; Mr. Manoj Garg, CHRO, Dr. Lal Pathlabs Limited, Mr. Rajesh Kr. Singh, DGM CSR, Lal Pathlab Foundation; Mr. Alok Mukhopadhyay, Chairman, VHAI; Dr. P.C Bhatnagar, Senior Director, VHAI; along with guests and invitees from various organizations and govt. institutions such as NIPCCD, State Tobacco Division as well as representatives from media

The findings of baseline survey conducted in District Kamrup Metropolitan were shared during the event. A wide range of communication material that has been developed to facilitate the project was released.

The project envisage mass awareness about the threat related to Non-communicable diseases so that people at large take promotive & preventive steps through life course approach. It also facilitates screening and testing of high-risk population so that they can be referred to the local government health facilities for early diagnosis and care. The project envisages utilizing existing public platforms like schools, village health nutrition and sanitation committee, local self-help groups and others to develop mass awareness on NCDs and its associated risk factors. Evidence based outcome of the project will facilitate upscaling this effort in State of Assam and other parts of India.
