Elections to the Board are held every two years. There is a decentralized management system headed by the Chief Executive, who is supported by a group of skilled, professional and administrative staff, both at the VHAI headquarters in Delhi and the state project offices. The various programmes and project team performances are monitored at regular intervals during staff meetings and committees, sometimes also by professional evaluators. An evaluation of VHAI takes place every five years. VHAI places a great deal of emphasis on upgrading the skills and capacities of its staff. For this purpose, need-based training programmes are organized regularly. Besides this, staff members are also deputed for training to other organizations of repute in India and abroad.
