The National Profile on Women Health & Development attempts to highlight the status as well as health status of the women in our country. It shows the relationship of the various policies & programmes of the different sectors with women’s health. Put together with a collective effort of the researchers, advisory committee editors and the National Focal Point, it highlights the contemporary health and other challenges for women & girls. It makes some suggestions for action, while underlining the fact that gender concerns & issues of equity and social justice should be an integral part of all policy making – especially in this period of increasing inequities and vulnerabilities. The initiative to bring out the country profiles on Women Health & Development in the region was taken by WHO. It has been published by VHAI as an advocacy tool and for understanding of the sectoral linkages, for those concerned about women’s health.
