Abstract
Today, the South-East Asia Region suffers from a high burden of Non-Communicable diseases and emerging new diseases coupled with social, gender and health inequality gaps within and between countries. Progress in health and developmental outcomes cannot be achieved without addressing social determinants of health, health inequalities as well as ensuring active public participation. The document entails the importance of Health Promotion and Self-Care as a cost effective strategy to bring down the burden of NCDs and other diseases.
