Many presumptive TB cases were identified by team Axshya in village Osha, District Kaushambi, Uttar Pradesh during their house visits. These cases were referred to a public health care facility to enable diagnosis. Out of total tested, two were found to be positive for TB. Mr. Ramkailash (CBNAAT Positive, MDR TB patient), 35 years, has already won the fight against the deadly TB infection. His condition has markedly improved which has helped him in retaining his normal life.
Ramkailash and his wife Sarojini shared their grief with us. Sarojini stated “We did not even have the money to fulfil our basic needs, let alone the cost of treatment for my husband. It was like the worst nightmare.” She expressed her gratitude by saying “My husband was fighting for his life, we were suffering, my husband’s disease took a toll on us but your team supported us in the hour of need”. They appreciated the untiring efforts by our CV, Mr Sunil who ensures regular follow-ups and supports them in the treatment process.
Ramkailash said” Like hundreds and thousands I would have also died of TB but Axshya has gifted me this life and has supported me throughout the journey. As soon as I complete my treatment I would like to engage with Axshya as a volunteer to help people in their fight against TB.
