Ensuring and Promoting Girls’ Education

Bishnupriya Muni, was a high school student from Village Ranipada, District Ganjam, Odisha. While her economically vulnerable background limited her from attending expensive coaching classes, Bishnupriya has been a highly resilient student who refused to surrender to such obstacles. She sincerely attended the free remedial classes offered at a tuition center run by VHAI and proudly passed high school in Grade A with more than 70 per cent marks. This has been a rare achievement for a girl like her from a financially vulnerable family background. In the coming future, this shy yet confident girl aspires to study in science stream and become a successful person in life. She has dreams of serving the underprivileged children in the future as a way of giving back to the support she has received through VHAI. Bishnupriya’s optimism and pristine ambition has now made her a role model in her locality.

A major objective of Marriage No Child’s Play has been ensuring education, especially for girls from low socio economic background. There were many cases in the project area in which girls faced the risk of child marriage on failing high school examination, as parents would start considering marriage proposals instead of encouraging her to reappear for the examination. To address this issue VHAI- MNCP project has been providing tuition support through qualified group members for such girls at the community level.
