Commitment of Axshya CV, Nikhilesh to support the community during the COVID-19 lockdown

District Azamgarh, Uttar Pradesh was categorised as a Red Zone due to increase in number of COVID cases in the area. Despite the challenges of restricted movements, our volunteer Mr Nikhilesh put best of his efforts to reach the TB patients for follow-up and necessary medications. He stated that,” Like TB, COVID is also a communicable disease and the community needs to understand about the protective measures. As a health care worker it is our responsibility to reach to them, support them and generate awareness among them”

Mr Nikhilesh who is an ACSU CV looks after two cluster Areas (ACSU Khalifatpur and Badsara Khalsa). These two units are at a distance of more than 20 km from their respective DMC. During his follow-up visits, he observed patients reporting about irregular supply of medicines which prompted him to list them and provide their details to the STS. He took medicines from the STS and provided those medicines to these TB patients at their door-step all by himself and ensured that patients do not have to suffer because of the lockdown. Along with that, there were 8 new cases diagnosed during the lockdown for whom he facilitated registration and initiation of treatment. The dedication and support of CV Nikhilesh to the community in this tough and challenging situation is highly appreciable and is an example for all of us.
