VHAI recently held its 50th Annual General Body Meeting in New Delhi. This year’s meeting, held on October 3rd and 4th, 2024, was centered around the critical theme of ‘Climate Change and Health’, highlighting the growing impact of climate change on public health and the urgent need for collective action.
A key highlight of the meeting was the technical session dedicated to exploring the intersection of climate change and health. Chaired by Dr. Rajni Kant Srivastava, ICMR, the session featured prominent speakers including Dr. Aakash Shrivastava, Additional Director at the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), Dr. R.C. Dhiman, National Technical Lead at the TCI Foundation and Dr. Harshal Salve, Additional Professor at AIIMS, who addressed various aspects of this growing public health challenge.
Representatives from various State Voluntary Health Associations also attended the meeting. VHAI and its State VHAs along with board members meet annually to discuss the issues of critical concern linked to health and development, share their experiences, challenges and innovative solutions in addressing public health at the grassroots level.
