The position of Manager-Programmes offers an opportunity to lead, implement, and oversee VHAI’s strategic public health and development initiatives. The incumbent will play a pivotal role in driving programme excellence, managing cross-functional teams, strengthening research and advocacy initiatives, and fostering effective partnerships with government agencies, donors, State associations, and member organizations. This strategic role includes responsibility for programme planning, resource mobilization, and monitoring initiatives at both national and field levels.
About the Role
The Manager–Programmes will lead the design, planning, and execution of VHAI’s core programmes and national/state initiatives, while providing leadership, mentorship, and capacity-building support to programme teams, State teams, member organizations, and partners to ensure effective implementation. The role also includes overseeing research and policy projects to ensure evidence-based insights inform VHAI’s advocacy and programme decisions, developing strategies for resource mobilization and programme sustainability, coordinating with government agencies, NGOs, and other stakeholders to enhance programme impact and policy influence, supporting the Chief Executive and ICDHI – Advisory Research Group in strategic programme and research initiatives, and ensuring compliance with organizational guidelines for timely and successful project completion.
Key Qualifications, Skills, and Experience
- Educational Qualification:Postgraduate degree in Public Health/Social Work. Candidates with MPH are strongly encouraged to apply.
- Experience:8–10 years of professional experience in public health, development, or related sectors, with demonstrated leadership in programme management. Proven track record of working with the voluntary sectors, government and international agencies.
- Programme Leadership:Proven ability to design, implement, monitor, and scale public health or development programmes at national or multi-state levels.
- Capacity Building:Experience in strengthening the capacities of State teams, member organizations and partner institutions through training, mentoring, and institutional support.
- Evidence Synthesis and Advancing Policy:Strong expertise in utilizing secondary research to synthesize evidence, analyze data and contribute to program reports, policy briefs and publications.
- Advocacy & Stakeholder Engagement:Demonstrated capacity to advocate engage senior government officials, donors, NGOs, and sector experts.
- Resource Mobilization:Experience in fundraising, proposal development, and donor relationship management.
- Communication, Social Media & Public Outreach:Exceptional writing, oral, and presentation skills; experience in managing social media platforms, developing digital content, and translating research and programme insights into accessible communication materials for diverse audiences.
- Team Leadership & Management:Experience of managing and mentoring diverse teams, and coordinating cross-functional initiatives.
- Flexibility:Willingness to travel to states as required. The candidate should be self-motivated, self-driven, and capable of working independently while effectively leading diverse teams and multi-stakeholder initiatives.

The position of Programme Officer-Public Education and Communication offers an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic team of professionals committed to advancing public health and communication in India. The incumbent will play a pivotal role in implementing public health programmes, developing and managing communication strategies & material and strengthening VHAI’s research advocacy and outreach efforts.
About the Role
The Programme Officer-Public Education and Communication will conceptualize, develop, and implement VHAI’s public education initiatives across communities and digital platforms. The role includes developing and designing impactful health communication strategies & developing education material, conducting awareness and engagement activities in schools and communities, and managing VHAI’s social media and digital outreach. The Programme Officer will also support research, policy advocacy, coordination, and capacity-building efforts, ensuring that all communication aligns with VHAI’s mission of promoting health equity and people-centred development.
Key Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:
- Educational Qualification:Postgraduate degree in Public Health/ Social Work/Nutrition/Mass Communication
- Experience:3-5 years of professional experience in Public Health sector particularly in public education, communication, and community engagement.
- Programme Implementation:Proven experience in, coordinating, and implementing public health or education programmes at the field level, including conducting awareness sessions in schools and community settings.
- Public Education & Communication:Demonstrated ability to design and deliver health communication campaigns and educational content for diverse audiences.
- Social Media & Digital Outreach:Experience in developing digital content, managing social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, X, etc.), and leading the team in podcasts, interviews, and other media initiatives.
- Research & Documentation:Skilled in literature review, secondary research and preparation of evidence-based documents and communication materials.
- Advocacy & Stakeholder Engagement:Strong coordination and networking skills for engaging with government agencies, health experts, donors, NGOs, and media partners.
- Communication & Presentation:Excellent writing, oral communication, and public speaking abilities.
- Teamwork:Ability to manage multiple tasks, work with with cross-functional teams, and meet deadlines efficiently.
- Flexibility:Willingness to travel as required.
- Preferred Skills (Desirable):Experience with visual/digital storytelling tools (e.g., Canva, video editing, infographics) and multimedia content creation will be an advantage.
- Should be self-driven and highly motivated, with a proactive approach to planning and executing public education initiatives.
