From Discussion Leader to Anganwadi Worker

Abhagini Nahak, 21 years, lives in Village Bhikapada with her parents, three sisters and a brother. Abhagini had out rightly rejected her early marriage proposal when she was 17. Since then she had been rendering her service as a Discussion Leader under the MNCP project. Once the Child Development Project Officer (CDPO) saw her taking a session for her adolescent group members and was highly impressed with her presentation. The Government officer advised her to apply for the post of Anganwadi Worker in her village. Abhagini liked the idea and applied for the position. With the unanimous support of the villagers, she got selected for the job in her own village.

Today, Abhagini is one of the youngest AWW in Block Khallikote. She is thankful to VHAI-Aparajita for grooming her up to such a level that she could become a service provider in her own village. The elevation of a DL to the post of AWW will also ensure that the programme approach will be sustainable in the future as well.
