A stitch in time saves nine

People from Lungsung in Kokrajhar District, Assam are still not familiar with Electricity, Mobile network and other basic facilities. The roads are not properly constructed also depriving them from the basic health care. People living in Lungsung are mostly people from the tea tribe and the Bodo community who survive on daily wage and seasonal farming. Considering the plight of the people, Lungsung is one the areas of project intervention.

Munju Murmu from Gambari village was diagnosed with PF Malaria in November 2017. Her timely diagnosis and treatment can be attributed to the untiring efforts of the village CHV, Lutru Murmu. Munju’s husband contacted Lutru one late evening when Munju was down with high fever. Without thinking twice on the late hours, Lutru proceeded with his duties. Lutru not only facilitated the diagnosis but ensured timely treatment through medications. Lutru also followed up and ensured treatment adherence leading to positive results. Munju is now hale and hearty.

The CHV was highly appreciated among the community. People from the community were grateful that they had a support in their neighborhood and that they can confide in him. The couple expressed their gratitude and admitted that Lutru’s timely efforts saved Munju’s life.
